The Gastrointestinal/Endoscopy Technician (GET) program offered at NEIT provides students with the knowledge and skills required to work as an entry-level endoscopy technician.  GET certified and start your career on the inside track.

The Gastrointestinal/Endoscopy Technician (GET) program's objective is to educate participants in the specialty of endoscopy and promote knowledge-based critical thinking in the safe practice of flexible and rigid endoscopy. They are a valuable member of the endoscopy team. They work with physicians and Registered Nurses who specialize in endoscopy in order to provide the best patient care possible.

The endoscopy technician will become familiar with a wide variety of endoscopes. They will assist the endoscopy team with endoscopic procedures. Procedures may include performing a gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, duodenoscopy, and as well as other types of procedures. The endoscopy technician is also responsible for handling specimens, cleaning, decontaminating, disinfecting, sterilizing and maintenance of equipment. This can include calibrating endoscopes, performing safety and leak checks, understanding the necessary quality assurance testing documentation requirements, and how to store and transport both flexible and rigid endoscopes.
